Thanksgiving in Boston

I know it is clear considering this blog, but I am in love with Boston.

Being from the south, it would take a lot for my husband to be on board with moving there, (though, I'd move there in a heartbeat!).

Since I can't live there, I will settle for spending holidays in Boston on my bucket list. :)

Years ago, we looked into going to Boston for thanksgiving.

Plimoth Plantaion looks fun enough year round, but we WILL be going there for Thanksgiving. SO AWESOME!

Besides all of the historical exhibits, they have Harvest Dinner and Thanksgiving Dinner. Looks like so much fun!

Plimoth Plantation for Thanksgiving is on our Bucket List for sure! I'm thinking in about 5-10 years when our daughter is learning about it in school. :)

A Note from The Belle

I am certain I have few readers, but I wanted to drop in and say "hi" and let y'all know why I haven't posted in awhile. I do plan on posting often- every weekday is my plan.

The past week my daughter has been fighting a fever and we're not sure what is really wrong. Also, next week I have a busy week, so I most likely will not be posting then.

I just wanted to give y'all a heads up so y'all don't think I am neglecting my blog. :) I have been dreaming about starting this blog for quite awhile now. :)

A few pics of my daughter and me in May.

Boston Proud

I follow the Red Sox on Facebook. I love whenever they post pics- especially of the world series and the celebratory parade. My favorite pic was when they took back the Boston Marathon finish line.
If that is not heartwarming, I don't know what is. Boston Strong. Boston Proud.

Today I saw an article on Sport's Illustrated, and it once again warmed my heart and spoke of Boston Strong. Boston Proud.

They had the 3 brave police officers from the marathon bombing cover come back and pose with David Ortiz in Fenway:

This is what is so amazing about Boston. They earned the right to celebrate the Red Sox awesome victory. But, no. They chose to honor the victims and heroes of the bombing.

Boston is more than a city, it's a family. Do I really need to explain further? I think these photos speak volumes!

BOSTON STRONG. BOSTON PROUD.

The Paint Bar

I have not been to The Paint Bar, but after finding it on Pinterest, I know I want to go!

I am a crafter and novice painter, and these painting places usually are not my thing. If you are going to paint, do it on your own, not when someone gives you the idea/walks you through it. (Obviously that is just my opinion, these places are all over the country and are well loved!).

With all that said, I really would love to go to The Paint Bar. I would love to paint any of these Boston themed paintings, (and they do have other things to paint if you live in Boston and don't feel like painting Back Bay. BUT, if you are visiting, I think you must stop by The Paint Bar and make your own, one of a kind, souvenir.). :) I think I would spend all day there painting multiple paintings! :)

I found all of these images on The Paint Bar's Pinterest- they own all of these copyrights.

I had to start off this post with the paintings that were done to show support for our beloved world champions, the Red Sox!

I love this "funky" Beacon Hill painting. :)
I love this "funky" Boston Skyline painting. :)
I'd have a hard time choosing which one to paint- I think I'd have to paint a few in one sitting! :) I love this "Starry Night Over Boston."
Quincy Market in the winter- I love QM, and I plan on spending a Christmas in Boston one day! :) BUCKET LIST! ;)
Who doesn't love the Swan Boats? :)
I can't think of a better way of celebrating finishing the Boston Marathon than to go to The Paint Bar and paint this! I will be running the half in October 2014, (it will be my first), and if I find I love to run races, I may train to qualify for the Boston Marathon. :)

These next three are of the "Make Way for Ducklings" statue- Summer, Fall, and Winter! I'm sure they have a spring one too- I think making all four seasons would make for gorgeous art work in the home. :)

Many people can find excitement on the 31st of October, but we Red Sox fans had a completely different reason to celebrate! CHAMPS!

Here are some costume ideas for next year:

WORLD SERIES CHAMPS!

In the spirit of baseball, I have remained silent about the series as not to jinx the Sox. BUT now I can scream it from the roof tops!!!

For the first time since 1918, first time in 95 years, Fenway has been able to celebrate a world series win! Man, to be in Fenway right now!!

Attention Bostonians:

Ok Boston,

I found this picture on Pinterest years ago, and it was said that this is Boston.

Is this true?

If so where is it located?

It would be an amazing photo op!

Wally's World

While on the Red Sox's website,  I found Wally has his own page, where you can contact him, book him for parties, etc.

There you can also find Wally's World. In Wally's world you can download free coloring pages, pictures for your computer, etc. :) Here are sample of the coloring pages, but to get them in the highest quality I would download them from the site. :)

Red Sox Kids

Have y'all heard of Red Sox Kids, and are any of you members? I am considering letting Annie join (the price seems more than fair), but since we live so far away I'm curious if it would be worth it.

Please let me know your thoughts! :)

Boston Half 2014 Plans

I would love to run the Boston marathon, but so does every other marathon runner. lol

Did you know it is the only marathon you have to qualify for?

Seeing as I have never run a half or a whole before, that is quite a longshot goal.

Most dream of running the Boston Marathon for the prestige, but I dream of running it because I love Boston!

In doing some research, I found Boston holds a half marathon in October, (the whole is in April).

Seriously y'all, Boston in mid October- height of the fall foliage! Could you imagine running this course in Boston in the fall:
Click here to see a more detailed version of the map.

The Boston Half is truly the best of both worlds for me. It is an attainable goal, and it is in Boston, IN THE FALL! EEK!

I'll be there in 2014, who's with me?! :)

Boston Map Crafts

Back in 2010, I was surfing etsy for Boston themed stuff just because I missed the town so much.

Seriously, I'd move there tomorrow.

I found a lot of items that were pretty cute and one in particular that I really liked.

SO cute! And, of course I love the little birdie. It can be purchased here. While I love it, it costs $49. My husband said I could get it, but I wanted to take a swing at it myself first.

I ran to Michael's,and I found a comparable locket and chain for a whopping $8! Total.
I lost the white lace. I liked the idea, but it kinda looked like the tag was left on it or something. Also, I had planned on covering up the fake clock, but since we went to Boston on our THIRD anniversary, I figured it would be a cute memorial. :)
My Modge Podge is still wet, so getting a pic sans glare was really hard. This will have to do. {the one on etsy looks a million times better simply because she caught a better pic... mine looks nice in person, I promise}

Oh, and I think I will be adding some bling... hmm, we'll see... it needs a lil somethin', somethin'.
Fenway Park on the front, Fenway Park on the inside. :)
I liked the length... please ignore my tshirt. I know, I am so stylish I could be the next Rachel Zoe. {Ok, you can stop laughing at me now}
With the other part of my map I made this picture frame for our bedroom. Yes, we have a Boston "themed" room- pictures to come. :)

Total Cost of necklace: $8 + cost of map...
Total Cost of frame: $1 + cost of map...
Map was right under $3. So, both projects cost about $12... not to mention I have map left over for future projects.

A necklace costing a little more than $8 beats $49 any day... even if her necklace is prettier than mine. ;)

Annie's Ball

When we went to Fenway Park (May 2013), everyone was super sweet to my daughter, Annie. There is a little section for kids to go to if it's their first time to the park. They get a pin that reads, "my first time at Fenway," a baggie of Fenway park dirt, etc.

In that room, we met a police officer who asked where our seats were and he told us he'd be at first base. (our seats were in the back of the grandstand-where the wheelchair seats are-along the first base line. Basically we could search and find him, but he'd probably never find us.)

Right before the game started, (after the teams got to practice), I looked up and the police officer was walking towards us! How in the world did he a. remember where we would be and b. actually find us?!

He said hi to us and then handed Annie a practice ball!

Would it have been cool if it had been a home run ball? Of course. Would it have been cool if it had been signed? Totally.

But, the fact that the police officer took the time to get the ball, remember where we would be, and took the time to find us...It is absolutely priceless to me!

I was so very touched. I'm still mad at myself that I wasn't bold enough to ask him to take a picture with Annie.

So, displayed in our room is a practice ball that the Red Sox or the Blue Jays used. It has Fenway Park dirt stained on it.  It's worthless to most people. To me, it's a priceless reminder of a stranger's love shown towards our precious Annie! (and as a Red Sox fan, it's pretty cool too) :)

I'll be posting a better picture of this later with all of the Boston décor in our room. :) Yep we had a Boston "themed" room. :)

If that sweet officer happens to read this story, THANK YOU SO MUCH! Your kindness truly was priceless to me!

Boston Wish List

The Yawkey Way Store across from Fenway, and here online, is a great store to purchase Red Sox merchandise. :)

Here are a few items I liked from another online store,  Chowdaheadz.

(I tried to save the individual links, but that didn't work. You'll just have to visit the site to find these. Sorry!)
